250 adult Red Wiggler (Eisenia Fetida) and Indian Blue (Perionyx Excavatus) worms--approximately 1/4 of a pound. This is a great starter option for smaller worm bins with a top surface area of one square foot (about the size of a milk crate.)
Both Red Wigglers and Indian Blues efficiently transform organic waste into nutrient-dense worm castings. Worm castings are rich in biodynamic agents that improve soil structure, diversity and organic fertility.
Important Facts About Your Worms:
Reds and Blues work together to consume ~ 1/2 their weight of organic material in several days, depending on environmental conditions. 250 worms will transform up to 1 pound of kitchen scraps per week into a powerful soil amendment your plants will love.
Ideal conditions are between 65-85 degrees although they can withstand temperatures from almost freezing to 90 degrees.
Worms require moisture to move, consume food and breathe through their skin. A handful of bedding should produce no more than a drop of water when hand-squeezed
